No Valentine?

Is this the year you have decided you will meet 'the one"? Dreading Valentine's Day because you are alone?

if you really want to meet someone special, it's time to get proactive!  When  I decided I wanted to meet someone, I got very focused and created a list of the attributes that I was looking for in a man. I placed objects in my bedroom and on my office desk that signified the union of two people.

I did a few other things--basically, applied the law of attraction--and it happened! I met my future husband on 9/9/99 (an auspicious day)!

For more information on how you can meet your significant other using energy--from the law of attraction to the placement of objects--see my blog.

I recently revamped my website to include all kinds of green information.

For Green Tip of the Day, a downloadable copy of “From Toxic to Safe and Healthy Cleaning Products Guide,” healthy and delicious recipes, general musings and rants, to meet green experts and for green product reviews, go to www.HarmoniousEnvironment.com.

if you would like to use eco-friendly cleaning products but don't know where to start, “From Toxic to Safe and Healthy Cleaning Products Guide” is a handy chart to help you choose non-toxic and safe cleaning products over the conventional cleaning products.

I used to own a caterer business and I still like to cook, especially healthy and delicious food. Go to the website for recipes and menus.

If you have been vowing to “green” you life this year, find easy to digest “Green Tip of the Day,” (past ones are archived on the site.)

I also interview green experts and business owners and test and review products. 4 are featured at a time and then they are archived. All experts and business owners are members of Coop America, the nation’s only directory of screened and approved green businesses.

My "The Secret"

Posted on Mar 9th, 2007 by Norma : Author Norma

I have not read The Secret, but I do believe we can change our lives—with limitations—with our thought processes.  The following is an excerpt from my book, Harmonious Environment: Beautify, Detoxify & Energize Your Life, Your Home & Your Planet.

“An excellent example of how our thinking and feeling can institute change comes from an incredible study by Dr. Masaru Emoto. Emoto’s experiments show how powerfully your thoughts can affect your physical environment. In his book, The Hidden Message in Water, Emoto demonstrates how water will change form in response to thought.

Emoto mentally projected love to a bottle of water, which was then frozen and the ice crystals were photographed. The crystals were beautiful, clear and symmetrical.

Next, Emoto allowed the water in the bottle to melt and directed hate to the water. He froze the water and photographed the ice crystals. This time, the crystals were misshapen, dense and ugly.

Every one of us, consciously or unconsciously, affects the objects and people around us—including ourselves—on a continual basis. Think about the expression “laughter is contagious.” It is! How do you feel when you are around happy, laughing people? Usually, you can’t help but feel good yourself. All emotions are energy and energy passes from one body to another; from one object to another; matter to matter. Emotions are contagious!”

On a personal level, I have had numerous experiences with successfully manifesting what I desire.  This includes finding jobs and my husband, among other things. (However, I have not tried Byrne’s method of weight loss, but it sure seems improbable to me.) When I want something, I ensure my goals are very clear and write them down. I feel what it’s like to attain my goal. There are a few other things I do that are too involved to describe here (they are in book).

However, I do not claim that the “laws of attraction” will win you the lottery. Set realistic goals and then go after them proactively.  And, keep visualizing.

Book Review: Harmonious Environment

Harmonious Environment: Beautify, Detoxify & Energize Your Life, Your Home & Your Planet, by Norma Lehmeier Hartie, is an indispensable reference book for anyone who cares about their health and well being and for the future of the planet.

Hartie concisely covers a wide range of subjects and includes a comprehensive listing of advisory organizations, product and service resources.  Part I of the book, “Banish the Ugly from Your Life,” is a blueprint for green, sustainable living. Discover how to replace toxic and unsustainable products from household cleaners to food (including recipes) to furniture to personal care products with safe, eco-friendly ones.  Hartie is the tough but motivational Life Coach in her approach to cleaning, removing clutter and on organizing the home or office.

Part II, “Bring in the Beautiful to Create a Harmonious Environment and Self,” includes a chapter on Earth-based spirituality and a fascinating look at the Four Elements (Earth, Fire, Air and Water) and the Medicine Wheel. The core of Hartie’s philosophy blossoms in Chapter Seven, “Applying Harmonious Adjustments™: Using Feng Shui and Other Techniques for Powerful Results.” Unlike other Feng Shui authors, Hartie has experience as a designer and her skills are apparent in this chapter and the following two. She has combined principles of Feng Shui, the Four Elements, color, energy, Vastu, and good design principles that create a unique and eclectic approach to home decorating. Finally, Hartie provides guidance on how to manifest personal or professional desires.

In Part III, “Putting the Pieces Together,” Hartie skillfully integrates the many subjects of the book into a unified and cohesive whole.

At its cover price of $19.95, Harmonious Environment is a value alone for the comprehensive green living product suppliers in the Resources section.

What makes this book so truly ambitious, however, is what lies beneath the surface.  In a sense, this book is only marginally about decorating ones home per se; it is a tome about personal transformation and about saving the earth. A theme that runs throughout the book is that all beings on earth are interconnected energetically. It is empowering to read that each person has the ability to manipulate their homes and self to both raise the collective energy and to manifest their own desires. Motivational, enlightening and well organized, Harmonious Environment is one remarkable book.

Help Stop Global Warming

Posted on Feb 27th, 2007 by Norma : Author Norma

The report released on February 2, 2007 by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has cast aside virtually any remaining doubts that global warming is caused by human activity.  While policymakers around the world work on solutions, it is up to individuals to do their share in stopping global warming.

According to Al Gore, "Each one of us is a cause of global warming, but each of us can become a part of the solution: in the decisions we make on what we buy...and how we live our lives." Gore provides numerous ways to help stop global warming--like using compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL's) and driving fuel efficient or hybrid cars.

In a newly published book, Harmonious Envrionment: Beautify, Detoxify & Energize Your Life, Your Home & Your Planet, Norma Lehmeier Hartie goes even further than Gore, providing the reader with a comprehensive and eco-friendly lifestyle guidebook with hundreds of resources.

"Purchasing eco-friendly natural and organic goods and avoiding petrochemical-based products will help stop global warming," Hartie states. "The best part is that these choices are healthier for the earth and humans."

For example, living a natural lifestyle is healthier because the indoor air is cleaner, lowering the incidence of asthma, allergies and sick building syndorme.

And, an eco-friendly lifestyle does not mean one has to forego syle and beauty.  On the contrary, Harmonious Environment shows the reader how to create a beautiful and natural home and workspace; a sanctuary that will support, invigorate and nourish to enable the reader to flourish in all apspects of their lives.

Hartie is a designer with a unique style she calls Harmonious Adjustments, in which she has combined select principles of Feng Shui, green living, the Four Elements, color, energy, Vastu, creative visualization and good design.
